Weight Management

When you quit smoking, you may have an increase in your sense of taste and smell. This can lead to snacking to deal with nicotine cravings. This is normal and usually temporary. Quitting smoking does not have to mean gaining weight.

Here are tips to keep the weight off:

  • Eat regular meals. Don't just eat whatever or whenever you feel like it.
  • Don't eat lots of candy and sweet stuff. Try sugarless gum, fresh fruit, popcorn and vegetables.
  • Drink extra water, especially at meals.
  • Keep active. Take walks, shoot baskets, ride your bike, dance, swim or skate, whatever you like.
